Nathaniel Smith, formerly the Statewide Migrant Advocate, currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Mississippi Migrant Education Service Center. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to service and advocacy for underserved communities. From participating in efforts to build orphanages in El Salvador to developing sustainable resources that support underserved students, Nathaniel has consistently worked to create meaningful opportunities for those in need.
Nathaniel is bilingual and brings extensive classroom experience as a public-school teacher. In his work as an educator, he focused not only on delivering high-quality instruction but also on building strong, supportive relationships with students and encouraging them to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. A native of Columbia, Mississippi, Nathaniel is also a proud alumnus of the University of Southern Mississippi.
